4 Watch Types every CEO should own

The world of business is fraught with expectations, deadlines, and a whole host of other things that rank at least a 3 or lower on the fun-o-meter. CEO's know this life all too well. In fact, the stakes are usually higher for these guys, as their jobs hang in the balance based on the performance of the company. However, when it comes to their wrist game, the general consensus is that they normally have it going on. The reason for this is twofold – they have a higher percentage of disposable income; and they have an image to uphold in their professional circles. No CEO wants to be outdone by his staff, or even another CEO for that matter.
A CEO's professional lifestyle isn't one dimensional and neither should their watch collection be. We're in no way implying that a CEO is better or worse depending on their taste in watches but it does certainly help with their look. Here is our take on 4 watch types that every CEO should own.
The Status Watch
If you have no other watch, you should have at least one watch that says “I worked very hard to get here, and I just spent a lot of money. See what hard work can accomplish.” Most high end brands that charge north of $4K will probably get the job done. Favorites like Rolex, Breitling, Cartier, IWC, Panerai, and Raymond Weil usually top the list for everydayers. It is true that these watches don't tell time more accurately but perhaps they do it more stylishly.
The Black Tie Watch
Watches at black tie events tend to step things up a bit. These watches tend to be minimalist, and usually very flat so that it fits neatly under the cuff of your new, and undoubtedly very expensive, tailored suit. As it is a dress watch, there isn't the need for any bells and whistles like chronographs or even lume for that matter. There also seems to be a trend towards leather strap watches. Names that spring to mind are the Rolex Cellini collection, Daniel Wellington , Frederique Constant , Longines' Grande Classique, Mido's Multifort collection , Ulysse Nardin, or even a Patek Phillipe Calatrava if you want to get really fancy.
The Corporate Retreat Watch
Amidst the barrage of trust-falls and various team building exercises, the CEO is looked upon as a pillar of stability, and even possibly sanity at these work/not quite work grey area events. CEO's trade the suit and tie for cargo pants and polo shirts, and reinforce the new look with a watch that spells adventure. Though these watches are not as expensive as some that I had previously mentioned, they are still high quality timepieces that are designed to be tough and hardwearing. Examples include: Luminox , Casio's Edifice collection , Armourlite , Traser , and Suunto .
The Weekend Watch
Most CEO's are always on call but normally have the weekends at home. Having an easy going watch to wear over the weekend makes sense as it is fun and not as intimidating to other people. I favor chronographs on rubber or NATO straps , but the look is all up to you. Hamilton , Tissot , Movado , or Orefici fit the bill nicely.
In closing, I'd like to point out that there are many different watch brands out there, and any watch you pick should be a representative of your personality and your individual taste.
